Ronald Thomas Lightner was born on May 6, 1939 in Smithfield Township, Huntingdon, PA to the parents of Thomas and Ruth (Morningstar) Lightner.
He married his wife Karen Aumiller on the 21st of April 1961 in Virginia. She preceded him in death on July 11, 2006. He was also preceded in death by a twin brother, Donald Lightner.
They had two children, a son, Robert Lightner and his children, Jolene, Andrew, Ethan and Logan and a daughter, Renee Harshbarger and husband Sam and their children, Kurtis, Felicia, Shawn and Breanna, 10 great-grandchildren and a brother, Terry Lightner and wife Sue of Huntingdon.
Ronald was drafted in the Army on June 18, 1957 and honorably discharged in 1960 with a good conduct metal and a marksman badge with a rifle bar and a certificate of appreciation for Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States.
He retired in 2006 after being employed for 38 years with Abbotts Dairy/Dean Foods in Belleville.
Ronald enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and visiting with family and friends.
A graveside service in loving memory of Ronald with Pastor Doug Pierce officiating will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at Coy-Lightner Cemetery, Huntingdon, PA. A viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. Monday June 3 at Barr Funeral Home, Inc. 120 Logan St., Lewistown, PA.
