Robert Paul “Red” Weitzel, 95 of Lute Lane, Lewistown, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2019 at his home.
Born December 29, 1923 in Reading, Pa. he was the son of the late George and Helen (Palmer) Weitzel. He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther (Messenger) Weitzel on November 6, 1988; a son, Terry Weitzel in 1994 and a sister, June McCool.
Red is survived by Pat Long of Boalsburg, Jessica Wilson of Lewistown, Robert McCool of Lock Haven, Timothy McCool of Pottstown, Sage McCool Price of Lewistown and many great nephews and nieces.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II.
Red was employed for Coen Oil Company for 31 years, retiring in 1986; he also worked for the Somerset Police Department in Somerset, Ohio and for Mifflin-Juniata CARS.
He was a member of Grove Memorial United Methodist Church, Auxiliary Police of Canton, Ohio and a life member of VFW Post 7011, Lewistown.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m, Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at Grove Memorial United Methodist Church, 611 S. Main Street, Lewistown, with Pastor Randy Traxler officiating.
There will be a time of visitation with the family from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
Funeral arrangements are under the care of the Barr Funeral Home and Crematory, 120 Logan Street, Lewistown.
