George Don Archey, 82, of Lewistown, passed away on Wednesday December 12, 2018 at his home.
Born April 20, 1936 in Lewistown, he was the son of the late George and Pearl (Kauffman) Archey.
George will be remembered and missed by his loving wife, Peggy (Page) Archey, whom he married in 1957, children, Jeffrey Archey and wife laurel of Bloomsburg, Peggy Sue Wilson, of Belleville, and Dee Ann of Lewistown, Siblings, Annie Reagers, Janet Miner, and Dalbert Archey and wife Joann all of California, Grandchildren, Nathan Archey of Bloomsburg, Matthew Archey of Lehighton, Amanda Sherlock of Granville, Aaron Wilson of Delaware, and Jessica Baumgardner of Belleville, and 12 Great-Grandchildren.
George was enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in the Korea.
Earlier in life, George was employed by The American Viscose Corp for 12 years, and later The Standard Steel for 26 years. He was a member of The Walnut Street United Methodist Church, in Burnham, and in his free time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. Before his passing, he was able to fulfill a lifelong dream by shooting an elk in Benezet during the 2018 elk season
A funeral service in loving memory of George will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday December 17, 2018 at The Walnut Street United Methodist Church, 203 N Walnut St, Burnham, PA 17009 with Pastor Chris Lutz to officiate. A viewing will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Sunday December 16, 2018 at The Barr Funeral Home Inc. and Crematory, 120 Logan Street, Lewistown. An additional viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church.
Interment will take place in Juniata Memorial Park.
