Obituary for Carey Anne Harpster (Brennan)

Carey Anne Harpster, 82, of Lewistown, passed away at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born April 19, 1936 in Somerset, she was the daughter of the late Eleanor and John Brennan. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband Wilson “Buzz” Harpster, and sisters, Jacquelyn Mason and Jane East.
Carey Anne will be remembered and missed by her children, Terry Decima and wife Susan of Freedom, PA, Debra Akers and husband Fred of Ohio, Thomas Decima and wife Kathy of Florida, Patricia Lewis and husband Rick of Lewistown, Timothy Decima of Guam, and Penny Willard of Lewistown; siblings, John Brennan and wife Geraldine, Daniel Brennan and wife Susan; Grandchildren, Daniel and Elizabeth Decima, Shannon Quay and husband Brian, Michael Akers and wife Siara, Brennan Decima and wife Erin, Bennett Decima, Sean and Kyle Lewis, and Ray “JR” Willard, Jr. and Hollye; Great-Grandchildren, Shepherd and August Quay, Haven and Hudson Akers, and Maxwell Willard; and her beloved and faithful dog, Lexy.
Earlier in life, Carey Anne was employed by Russell National Bank as a Teller, and later at Lewistown Hospital working in Medical Records.
She was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, where she was very active in every aspect including the alter guild, Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard and volunteer work in the church office.
Carey Anne was a very generous person with anyone who crossed her path; for all of you who did, family and friends alike, you know how important and loved you were. Earlier in life, she enjoyed square dancing with her husband Buzz. She loved playing pinochle and bridge with her friends and also taking yearly beach trips with friends. She enjoyed swimming with the Mermaids at the YMCA. She faithfully attended her yearly high school reunions in Somerset.
A memorial service in loving memory of Carey Anne will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 21 S Main St. Lewistown with Father James Harwood officiating. The family of Carey Anne will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church.
