Obituary for Joseph M. Long

Joseph M. Long, 62, of Bellefonte, passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2018.

Born Oct. 13, 1955, in Lewistown, he was the son of Joseph W. and the late Ruth (Peace) Long.

Along with his father, Joey is survived by the love of his life, wife of 39 years, Glenda (Singer) Long; his two sisters, Joyce King and Deana Kauffman (Jeffrey); one brother, Daniel Long (Dee); his father-and mother-in-law, Donald and Judy (Kratzer) Singer; brothers-in-law, Mark Singer, Robert Singer, Kraig Kratzer (Susan), and Kris Kratzer (Colleen); his many nieces and nephews, whom he viewed and loved as if they were his own children; as well as all of his very special friends that brought him joy and happiness.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Douglas King.

He was a 1973 graduate of Penn Highlands High School and a 1976 graduate of Williamson Trade School, where he studied masonry. He worked at Restek for 22 years before retiring on Dec. 31, 2017. Joey was a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Lewistown. In his spare time, Joe found a great deal of joy (and frustration) cheering on his beloved Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies. Above all, he loved taking weekend trips with Glenda, spending time with friends and family, laughing, playing games and creating lasting memories for all.

Friends and family will be received from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018, at the Faith United Methodist Church, 512 Hughes St., Bellefonte, PA 16823. Services will take place at noon with Pastor Andrew Morgan officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joe’s name to a charitable organization of your choice.
