Obituary for Grace A. Haywood (Deamer)

Grace A. Haywood, 99, died at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at William Penn Nursing Home.

Born May 23, 1918 in Alfarata, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Eva (Thomas) Deamer. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward “Ted” Haywood and son Ronald L. Haywood, and four brothers.

She is survived by her daughter, Donna and husband Guy Appleby; sister Violet Vogel, and daughter-in-law Betty L. Haywood.

Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Alan S. Appleby, Arica and husband Bret Monsell, Anne Clark, Mark Haywood and wife, Lisa, Melissa Rybacki and husband, Ray, Matthew Haywood and wife Lisa, and Debra Ezra and husband Dave, great-grandchildren David and Katie Monsell, Nathan and Andrea Appleby, Alexandra and Brandon Clark, Katy and Lucas Haywood, Matthew and Andrew Zook, Derek and Jaclyn Ezra and one great-great-grandchild Wyatt Zook.

Mrs. Haywood and her husband were co-owners of the Purity Milk Company. She also held many interests in J-wood, Inc. Milroy, and the Lenwood Corporation in State College.

She was a lifetime member of the Highland Park Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder and on many other committees at church.

A Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday Nov. 24, 2017 at The Highland Park Presbyterian Church, on the corner of Sixth Street and Electric Avenue, in Lewistown with Pastor Helen Kester officiating.

Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family. There will be no public viewing.

Arrangements are under the care of the Barr Funeral Home Inc. and Crematory, 120 Logan Street, Lewistown.
