Hazel I.  Shawver (Erb)
Hazel I. Shawver, 98, of Belleville, passed away on Monday August 28, 2017 at 5:25 p.m. at The Valley View Haven Retirement Community.

Born March 18, 1919 in McClure, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Agnes (Wagner) Erb.

Hazel was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Jay Shawver whom passed away on October 6, 2015, a son, Terry Shawver, and three brothers, Charles, Gerald, and Archie Erb.

She is survived by her loving children, Darwin Shawver, Sr. and wife Shirley of McClure, Richard Shawver and wife Diana of Beavertown, and Jaylene Sunderland of Lewistown, a brother Philip Erb and wife Maxine of Vira, and Grandchildren, Darwin Shawver, Jr., Christine Stuck, Bobbie Jo Grim, Erik Shawver, Greta Bishop, Shawn Sunderland and David Sunderland, and a daughter-in-law, Marlene Shawver of Carlisle.

Hazel loved to cook, and loved to play the piano earlier in her life. She loved spending time with her family, her family was her world.

Hazel was a member of Lawver’s Methodist Church in McClure.


A memorial service in loving memory of Hazel will be held on Monday September 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Lawver’s Church, 362 Whiskey Road Ext, McClure, PA 17841 with Rev. James Jacobs officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.

Interment will take place in Lawver’s Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the care of The Barr Funeral Home Inc. and Crematory, 120 Logan Street, Lewistown.
