Obituary for William R. "Bill" Johnson

William (Bill) Robert Johnson, 77 of Lewistown passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at 11:24 p.m. at Golden Living Center-William Penn Nursing Home. He was born June 24,1938 in Kistler PA, the son of the late Harold E. Johnson and Virginia (Hancock) Johnson Price.
He is survived by the love of his life, Virginia L. (Aurand) Johnson. They were married September 11, 1960 at the StrodesMills Baptist Church. Also surviving are his children, Lynne O’Cain and husband Pat of Howard, Dee Morder and husband Mike of Mt. Union and William (Bil) Johnson of Lancaster. His grandchildren, the greatest joys of his life survive, as well:Derek O’Cain of Japan, Shannon O’Cain of Howard, and Torynand Blake Morder of Mt. Union. He is also survived by a great-grandson Dawson O’Cain “Pappy’s Boy” of Howard.
In addition, Bill is survived by his siblings: Harold Johnson and wife Lois of Allensville, Jerry Johnson and wife Eloise of Las Vegas, NV, Sally Bierly and husband Jon of Belleville, Sue Scholl and husband Steve of Newton Hamilton, Charles (Chuck)Johnson and wife Carol of Huntingdon, and Raymond (Dip)Johnson and wife Lola of McVeytown, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. His brother, James Johnson, preceded him in death.
Bill was a 1958 graduate of Captain Jack High School. He was employed as a Millwright for the Carpenters Union Local 287. After retirement, he was employed as a door greeter and worked in the produce department at Walmart where he became affectionately known as the “pineapple” man. He was a 32nddegree past master of the Lewistown Masonic Lodge No. 203 and a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite. Bill was a former Little-League coach, an avid hunter, Penn State and Steelers football fan, and a Philadelphia Phillies baseball fan.
A celebration of life service will be held Saturday November 7that the Barr Funeral Home 120 Logan Street, Lewistown at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jerry Meyer officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service at the Funeral Home.
