Obituary for Louis S. Jordan



Louis S. Jordan of Luther Drive, Lewistown, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, December 3, 2014. He was born in Berwick, PA, the son of the late Joseph J. and Virginia (Scrivani) Jordan. Lou is survived by his devoted wife, Doris K. Jordan whom he married in 1959.
He is also survived by his loving daughter, Mary and husband, Norman Kraft of Yardley, PA; a sister, Cecilia Riofski of Wilmington, DE; a sister-in-law, Joyce Walker and husband Ray of Pleasant Gap, PA; a brother-in-law, Tedd Kemberling and wife Tami of Fayetteville, GA and many nieces and nephews who always remained close to their Uncle Louie.
Louis was preceded in death by sisters Joanna, Della, Virginia and brothers Theodore, Carl, Joseph, Gerard and Alex.
Louis proudly served in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theatre during World War II.
Louis was a faithful member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Lewistown, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister for over 20 years. Additionally, he was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus member of Our Lady of Victory Assembly #1945, a member of the Maria Assunta Society of Berwick, and a life member of BPOElks Club #663. For many years, Louis regularly donated blood to the American Red Cross.
He was a manager at Beacon Consumer Discount Company for 30 years during which time he enthusiastically sponsored several little league baseball teams as well as pine box derby competitors. Likewise, Lou will be remembered as the unofficial greeter on Golden Choice trips and associated gatherings during his 17 year banking career with Omega Bank.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, December 13, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Rev. William Weary officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Sacred Heart School, 110 N. Dorcas St., Lewistown, PA 17044 or Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard, the food ministry of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 21 S. Main St., Lewistown, PA 17044.
